Liturgy of the Hours Discernment Event on Zoom by Franciscan Sisters

 Young women discerning God’s call have asked about more information regarding the Liturgy of the Hours. Sister Anne Marie Lom is responding to such a need by offering a Zoom event on “Called to Pray the Liturgy of the Hours’ on February 26, 2022 with talks at 10 AM, 2 PM and 4 PM. What can you expect from this kind of event? Here are some questions that will be answered.

  1. How did this prayer of the universal Church come to be?
  2. What are the similarities and differences in the various Hours: Lauds and Vespers? How are the Hours structured?
  3. What is the difference between a Psalm and a Canticle in the Liturgy of Hours?
  4. How can I pray the Liturgy of Hours with better attention and personal application?
  5. Time for your questions and observations.

Sister Anne Marie Lom OSF holds a Masters Degree in Applied Spirituality from the University of San Francisco and served an internship in Franciscan Spiritual Direction for three months in Ontario, Canada. She has facilitated the training of Spiritual Directors and has offered retreats throughout the United States. Presently she coordinates St. Francis House of Prayer in Manitowoc, WI
